Meet the Therapists

  • Melissa Montiel MA, CCC-SLP, COM

    OWNER / CERTIFIED SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST / CERTIFIED OROFACIAL MYOLOGIST

    Melissa is the proud owner of Talk of the Town, LLC. She has worked in private practice since 2006 and is currently providing her specialized services in private schools and in the clinic.

    Melissa graduated Cum Laude from University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She achieved a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from University of Northern Iowa.

    Melissa holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Melissa is licensed in the State of Nevada and is also one of the few Certified Orofacial Myologists in Nevada and is a member of the International Association of Orofacial Myology.

    Melissa’s specialties include working with children with a variety of communication impairments and disabilities, with specific interests and expertise in the following areas: articulation/phonology therapy, apraxia of speech, orofacial myofunctional therapy (ie, tongue thrust), eliminating thumb/digit sucking, expressive and receptive language therapy, and working with children on the autism spectrum.

  • Makensie Millar, MS CCC-SLP

    CERTIFIED SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST / OROFACIAL MYOLOGIST

    Makensie attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri where she earned a Masters of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

    She is licensed in the state of Nevada and and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

    Makensie's clinical experience includes working with individuals with developmental delays, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), fluency disorders, expressive/receptive language delays, voice disorders, and articulation/phonology disorders. 

    She also has training in diagnosing and treating orofacial myofunctional disorders.

    In her free time, Makensie's favorite thing to do is explore Las Vegas with her family and friends.

  • Justine Mokeski, MS CCC-SLP

    CERTIFIED SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Justine attended University of Nevada, Reno where she received her Bachelor's degree and Master’s of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology in 2008.

    During her master’s, Justine worked as an Autism Behavior Interventionist and obtained ABA experience with children on the spectrum. Justine has experience with early language, CAS and feeding difficulties.

    She has advanced training with PECS, PROMPT, CAS, oral facial myology, and feeding and swallowing disorders. 

    In her free time, Justine enjoys date nights with her husband, walks with her dog Edamame, hiking, traveling to different countries, trying new restaurants, and going to country concerts.

  • Teri Romeo MS, CCC-SLP

    CERTIFIED SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Teri has been working as a speech-language pathologist since 1985 within school districts in Nevada.

    Terri holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language Hearing Association (ASHA).

    Terri’s specialty areas include Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS); phonemic speech sound disorders, and teaching spoken language/listening skills to individuals with hearing loss.

  • Shari Johnson, MNS, CCC-SLP

    CERTIFIED SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Shari attended Arizona State University where she earned her Masters of Natural Science degree in Speech Language Pathology in 1990.

    Shari holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist in the states of Nevada and Arizona.

    Shari’s specialty areas include articulation/phonology; apraxia of speech; expressive/receptive language therapy; diagnostics; early intervention; and working with children with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and on the autism spectrum.

    In her free time, Shari volunteers at a charity teaching English to immigrants/refugees. She also enjoys traveling, reading, kayaking, and spending time with her family.

  • Samantha Kemlock,MS, CCC-SLP

    CERTIFIED SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Samantha, a graduate from Marshall University, earned her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

    Samantha is licensed in the state of Nevada and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

    Samantha is a firm believer that each child deserves an SLP designated to providing individualized care.

    In her free time, Samantha likes spending time with family, outdoor walks and trying new restaurants.

    Qualifications

    • Nevada teaching credential

    • Lively Letters, Lindamood Bell, and/or Orton Gillingham training a plus
